• Powder coating

Categories and applications of coatings

■ Epoxy Powder Coatings

    • Used in environments where chemical corrosion or harsh conditions can cause product rusting.
    • Indoor applications include 70-90% gloss and matte powder coatings.
    • Applications: water and oil pipelines, metal valves, storage racks, flooring materials that may come into contact with acidic or alkaline chemicals.

■ Polyester/Epoxy Hybrid Powder Coatings

    • Provides both decorative and protective functions for product appearance. Not resistant to UV light, so it is not suitable for applications exposed to sunlight.
    • Commonly known as hybrid or indoor powder coatings.
    • Examples of applications: microwave ovens, washing machines, shelves, storage racks, fitness equipment, office desks and chairs, filing cabinets, metal furniture such as beds, cabinets, wardrobes, power tools, etc.

■ Polyester Resin Powder Coatings

    • Excellent weather resistance, often used for products that require resistance to sunlight and rain. Due to its frequent use in outdoor products, it is commonly referred to as outdoor powder coatings.
    • This series of products can be further divided into Polyester Resin/TGIC and Polyester Resin/HAA (non-TGIC) categories.
    • Applications: aluminum doors and windows, skylights, air conditioners, outdoor leisure tables and chairs, metal doors, railings, car bumpers, distribution panel boxes, lighting fixtures, etc.
    • Due to concerns about the environmental impact of TGIC, there has been a gradual reduction in the use of Polyester Resin/TGIC products in the European region, with a shift towards Polyester Resin/HAA (non-TGIC) coatings. However, as non-TGIC coatings still slightly lag behind in performance compared to TGIC-based coatings, they have not completely replaced Polyester Resin/TGIC products yet.

■ Polyurethane Resin Powder Coatings

    • Similar to the polyester resin series, polyurethane coatings are often used for products that require weather resistance.

How to Choose Powder Coatings

  • If you are having difficulty selecting the appropriate powder coating, please contact us, and we will recommend suitable products for you.
  • If your products require coating, we recommend professional coating services to serve you.
  • If you encounter any abnormalities during the coating process and are having trouble identifying the cause, we are more than happy to discuss with you to find a solution.
      1. Indoor or outdoor use of the product.
      2. Color - American PANTONE color system, European RAL color system, Japan Paint Industry Association/Munsell standard color samples, or the color chart provided by the Taiwan Paint Industry Association. If the color you need is not available in the above color systems, please provide your sample, and we will specially formulate it for you.
      3. Gloss level - from 10% matte finish to over 90% high gloss finish.
      4. Special surface effects - metallic effect, hammertone texture, mesh pattern, antique effect, sandpaper finish, multi-color finish.
      5. Other physical/chemical requirements - coating hardness, enhanced scratch resistance, fingerprint resistance, resistance to specific chemicals, etc.
      6. Whether it is applied to products that may come into contact with babies or children or other requirements that prohibit the presence of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium, arsenic, antimony, selenium, barium, etc.
      7. Please inform us about the nature of your work - steel, aluminum, cast iron, aluminum alloy castings, or other alloy castings, and whether there is any pre-treatment on the working surface. What is the pre-treatment method?
      8. 8.Spray method - traditional corona charge electrostatic spraying or tribostatic charging spraying.
      9. Type of curing oven - conveyor continuous oven or batch oven (vertical oven).

Special Coatings and Additional Functions and Applications

    Anti-static Function

      • Anti-static coatings refer to coatings with a resistance lower than 1010 that have the function of dissipating static electricity. They can prevent the accumulation of charges on the surface of objects, which can interfere with the operation or even damage precision instruments. They can also prevent the formation of sparks caused by static electricity discharge, which can pose safety concerns such as fire or explosion.
      • Suitable for industries such as the electronics industry that require static electricity protection.

    Super Weatherability Function

      • Super weatherable coatings, unlike general outdoor coatings, exhibit superior film properties and chemical resistance, resulting in excellent color retention even in long-term outdoor environments. The coating lifespan in different usage environments far exceeds that of regular outdoor coatings.
      • Suitable for applications in the construction industry, transportation equipment, and more.

    Metal Bonding Function

      • Metal bonding coatings utilize bonding technology to achieve a more uniform metallic texture effect. The recycling of powder during coating does not result in significant differences, effectively reducing coating costs and enhancing the texture performance of the film.
      • Suitable for applications that require a strong metallic texture.

    Super Transparent Protective Function

      • Super transparent coatings are high-frequency self-developed coatings that can be used in indoor or outdoor environments. Their transparency not only preserves the color and texture of the topcoat or workpiece, but also enhances the aesthetics and decorative effects, while providing additional protective capabilities to further enhance the value of the product.
      • Suitable for use in the high-end product market.

    Antimicrobial Function

      • Utilizing antimicrobial treatment technology to create an unfavorable environment for bacterial survival on the surface of the coating, it effectively inhibits common pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae, reducing the transmission pathway of personnel coming into contact with the surface of objects. The antimicrobial efficacy can last for several years.
      • Suitable for use in medical facilities and other equipment with antimicrobial requirements.
      •  Note: Antimicrobial function does not equate to antiviral or antifungal function.

    Electromagnetic Wave Resistance

      • Electromagnetic wave-resistant coatings achieve full-spectrum shielding effects through a single spraying operation, reducing electromagnetic interference. Compared to other methods of electromagnetic wave resistance, electromagnetic wave-resistant coatings have lower processing costs.
      • Suitable for industries such as the electronics industry that require electromagnetic wave resistance.

    Heat Dissipation

      • Heat dissipation coatings have superior heat transfer properties compared to regular coatings. They can quickly dissipate the heat generated by equipment to the external environment, reducing the accumulation of heat inside the equipment and minimizing the possibility of equipment damage due to high temperatures, thereby extending the equipment's lifespan.
      • Suitable for equipment that generates heat during operation.
